Apache/N'dee/Ndé Community

The Coronet Productions film, like others in the collection made by Encyclopedia Brittanica, represents the post-World War II upsurge in educational filmmaking. Shot in 16mm Kodachrome, the images of Apache/N'dee/Ndé homelands are often quite beautiful. Such films frequently credited a professor or teacher as an authority figure, and presented a mainstream view of the People represented. While these films stand in contrast to mid-century Hollywood representations of Apache life, they do still rely upon unquestioned assumptions about Native culture in general and Apache culture in particular.
